So many books reviewed this January! Most were romances, but I am trying to do better about sprinkling other genres in along with the romances. As always, only the books that had reviews published this month are featured (despite the fact that they were all read back in November and December.)
Top Stars
Four books pulled a perfect five stars this month! Three pretty different romances and an emotional horror story. In The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, we’ve got science romance and fake dating. Good spice, good characters! Final Offer by Lauren Asher had be BAWLING simply because this is the end of the Dreamland Billionaires series which I loved so much. Cal became my favorite brother and the issues in this romance were much more realistic than random OWD or misunderstandings. Consider Me by Becka Mack was a great hockey romance that had a fantastic MMC in Carter who is clueless, but gives it a good try and boy, is he good. Finally, The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones had me on the verge of tears numerous times as I listened to the audiobook at work. It was terrifying, gory, and sad all at the same time.
Missed the Mark
There was only one book that received lower than three stars this month, and that was Honeysuckles by January Rayne. This was supposed to be a dark, monster romance but ended up being a hot mess (for me.) Not enough plot to justify anything in the story. This got a very generous 2 stars from me.
