Bitter exes. Professional rivals. Just one bed. What could go wrong?
Jessica Carrington always wanted her own happily ever after. But, until that happens, she spends her days as a small-time romance writer, penning satisfying Happily Ever Afters to soothe the heartache left by her ex-boyfriend Nick Matthews, a fellow romance writer and now her biggest rival, who has found success writing love stories without happy endings. It's clearly what he's good at, after all . . .
So, when their professional obligations find them snowed in - and forced to share a room! - at the same remote inn a few days before Christmas, Jess and Nick are both fuming. But what's more fitting for two romantic writers in a slump? And when they realise the friction between them might be the only cure for their writer's block, they decide to turn their frustration into fiction . . . and the pages start flying.
Jess can't shake the feeling that Nick is the last guy on earth she should be falling for (again), but, as they both finally get back in their flow, is he actually all she wants for Christmas?

five-stars

review

We get to my only five star non audiobook of the season! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up All I Want is You by Falon Ballard. I normally don’t enjoy second chance romance but I figured tis the season so let’s see if I can be convinced. And I could! The angst made sense and didn’t feel shoehorned in and the romance made my heart feel.

Jess and Nick were great. They were burgeoning authors deeply in love before both signed with a publisher. Two wildly in love people who just happened to fall victim to circumstance and a bit of miscommunication. The turmoil Nick felt was palpable, still being in love and knowing the rift is his fault. What I especially loved was Jess’ no nonsense attitude. She knew he was the one that messed up and she didn’t let him forget it. She didn’t simply cave and become a doormat for him because she still loved him. Jess stood up for herself for the hurt he put her through. Nick, realizing she won’t just roll over for him, decides he has nothing left to lose and goes for it, desperate to win her back. This was the exact type of second chance romance I can get behind. – where the initial breakup is realistic with no one being malicious in their actions. The very definition of the right person at the wrong time.

The spice was solid. You could feel the familiarity between the characters as they reunited. The care and love in how they reacquainted themselves with the other’s body. It was just sexy, but sweet as well. Pacing-wise, it was perfect. It never lagged, nor did it just blur ahead. Their reunion was built in increments while readers slowly learn of their past.

All I Want is You by Falon Ballard is absolutely one of my favorite holiday reads of this season. The romance between main characters Jess and Nick was realistic in its heartbreak and hopefulness. If you want a winter romance full of affection with strong characters, I definitely recommend this.

@itsjesscarrington: lol. I haven’t put shit in the past, Matthews. I think your books suck. My agent told me to play nice with SVP. That’s all this is.
