In the cold wilderness of Alaska, my host is as wicked as he is enticing.I thought I had my golden ticket to love until I stumbled upon my boyfriend’s betrayal. A romantic Christmas vacation to Alaska, planned for two, is now a solo venture. Little did I know, I was stepping into the lair of a dark, dangerous man I knew nothing about.

Maddox, a tattooed giant of a man, a fugitive turned recluse, has been living in the shadows. But his obsession ignites when he sees a photo of me online after booking his cabin, the golden girl with a silver spoon. He’s dangerous and unstable, and yet I’m drawn to him. The rugged man in front of me is nothing like the polished lawyers and businessmen I’m used to. Maddox is raw and real.

In the isolated cabin, the icy Alaskan wilderness becomes our playground. Maddox, the man obsessed with masks, pulls me into his twisted game of obsession and desire. But as the temperature drops, our dangerous dance only heats up, pushing boundaries.

I thought the snow stranded me, but I’m exactly where Maddox wants me. In his world, under his rules. I’d come for solitude, but I’m in for a wild ride. No one can hear you scream when you’re miles from civilization. After all, there are no rules in the heart of the wilderness. The only law is survival. But can I survive Maddox?

Stranded is a dark Christmas novella with heavy subjects that some readers may find triggering. A full list of the warnings will be found in the book. This story has no cliffhanger and ends with a HEA.

review

Stranded by Selena Winters had absolutely no plot. I have read 2-sentence horror stories with more substance than this. I picked this up way back during the holiday season because it says it is a dark Christmas novella, but honestly? There was very little Christmas, and very little romance or tension. Ivy breaks up with her cheating boyfriend and takes their holiday trip solo to an isolated cabin in Alaska. She, a lone woman, arrives where there’s no reception and sees a man jerking it outside in the cold. Decides yeah, this is cool, this is good, this is a safe and smart decision. Instantly, she wants to jump his bones and starts teasing him through the open windows. Ma’am? There is no build-up, there is no nothing. Okay, cool, maybe this is just straight up erotica pwp and nothing else. But here’s the thing, the author tries to include substance, it just doesn’t work. Poor Ivy is rich but can’t do what she wants, which is design clothing. Boohoo, so sad. Maddox is a wanted criminal but able to fly post 9/11 without being caught. Why do they like each other? Who knows! We certainly don’t, other than they share kinks. Don’t even get me started on the biphobia/homophobia/trans fetishization. I did not care for Stranded by Selena Winters one bit, but I did finish it and it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve read. I simply wouldn’t recommend it though. Not enough sex to simply be erotica. Not enough substance to be a romance. Way too phobic to be enjoyable toward the end.
