I came to L.A. for my fresh start…and then my past showed up. I’ve moved on. At least that’s what I’ve told myself all these years after the boy from the streets left me to pursue his dreams. I have my own dreams now. And they don’t involve a 6’4 tatted hockey star who thinks he’s god. He tells me I’m the one. That he came back for me all those years ago… That he’s never going to let me go. The question is…is Ari Lancaster going to break my heart again? Or has my Mr. Wrong been the right guy all along…
The Pucking Wrong Guy is a hockey romance standalone from USA Today and International Bestselling Author C.R. Jane.

review

Okay, I’m going to be so real right now. You know how some people will DNF a book for no good reason? The Pucking Wrong Guy by CR Jane irked me for the MMC’s name alone. I know, it’s stupid, but for some reason thinking of a hockey player named Ari, I wanted to vomit. And I think that colored him poorly in my eyes because everyone else that likes this series really seems to like Ari. There’s nothing particularly wrong with him. He’s enthusiastic. A bit of a golden retriever. I just could not stand him. He seemed like a walking meme. I wanted more. I think maybe he wasn’t unhinged enough. Don’t get me wrong, he was unhinged for sure. But compared to Lincoln in book 1, this guy was a kitten.

I really liked FMC Blake. She definitely held out longer than a lot of other dark romance heroines, but I also think she was a little dumb. Like girl, your bf hasn’t reached out to you and you don’t call? You only text and think he’s being weird. You don’t check that everything is okay? Yeah, I get that she didn’t really care for him but a tiny brain cell for this would’ve gone a long way. Like the heroine in book 1, this one has a lot of issues but here’s the thing, we touch on them and then Ari’s love magically cures everything. He never even really addresses anything. There’s no reason to give her all of these things to just have nothing come of it. Then, the relationship between her and Ari just seemed to be instantly in place with no build-up. It bored me.

Still, despite my gripes, I finished The Pucking Wrong Guy by CR Jane and had a decent time reading it. I was in a hockey romance mood and this scratched that itch. That said, I am actually very excited for the next book which features Walker, aka Prince Charming. Good looking, a doofus, AND a goalie to boot? I’m drooling already.
