This is going to be a short review for Unicorns and Honey Cakes by Zoe Chant. I picked up this audiobook when I was on a Zoe Chant roll and was honestly left a little disappointed. I didn’t realize it would be closed door and, while that would be okay, it also lacked a lot of substance. From the very first page I knew how her recipes were being stolen. Then, once Sylvie learned about shifters, she and Gale never really put it together. Furthermore, the relationship didn’t really have any development. It was pretty much hey wow you’re my mate, oh wow I didn’t know what those were buy okay I guess, I will prove myself a worthy mate by catching your recipe thief, wow you really do care okay let’s live happily ever after. For what it is, a short 3 hour read, it was okay, but I’m not sure I would’ve picked it up had I known what to expect. I also don’t know if I’ll get the second in this Shifters and Sweets series. Really preferred her Fire & Rescue Shifters series so far.
