Savage. Reckless. Wild. These are only some of the words used to describe me. I’m all of those things, and I never wished to be anything else in almost 500 years of existence.
Then she came along. Aurora Leal, the daughter of the High Witch and destined for that role. She’s practically royalty in the magical world, but most importantly, she’s forbidden fruit.
I was taught never to mess with witches, and I had no intention of breaking that rule until the night she crashed into my life. I couldn’t resist the pull, and like an idiot, I succumbed to her charms.
Now I’m screwed. What was supposed to be only a hookup left a permanent mark. I ended up mated to the sassy witch. An eternal commitment wasn’t something I ever wished for, but when your destined mate is promised to someone else, that’s a much bigger problem.
I only have two choices. Either I find a way to break the mating bond or Aurora will become a widow before she says I do. That will definitely start a war between vampires and mages. But the more time I spend with her, the less inclined I am to give her up.
Damn, I guess I’m killing some mages, then.

review

Long and short of it: WAY better than the first in the series. If you pick up the first book for free on Amazon Prime, this second one is DEFINITELY worth shelling out for.

The first book in this series, Dark Prince, I honestly liked but was not blown away. Was happy enough with it considering I read it for free thanks to Prime reading. And to be truthful, I had no intention of continuing the series until I sprung for Kindle Unlimited. Once that happened, the second book in the series, Wild Thing, came up as recommended and I thought what the heck, why not!

WELL, I am glad I did pick it up to read. I loved it so much, way better than the first in the series. Here, our focus is on two of the side characters of the first book – Aurora and Saxon.

Saxon, one of the lights of my life, is just fun and happy to be doing what he’s doing. Until, that is, you get to know that he’s hiding his ‘shameful‘ past which secretly eats at him. He’s so great and fun, which I miss in vampiric characters. I’m tired of brooding vamps, give me the ones that love their life! BUT ANYWAY, he’s got the hots for Aurora, whom we met in the first book. She’s great, sassy, inquisitive, and does not put up with anyone’s sugar honey iced tea, if you know what I mean.

Now, put them together? Delicious. Add some forbidden romance and in love against their will? Great, amazing!

The story moved fast, the characters were great, and we learned a bit of lore regarding this world that Michelle Hercules has created that really has me wanting to continue the series.

Would I recommend this? YES, though obviously keep in mind, it is a romance at the heart of it.
